Excellent service by (interior) design
In her five-plus years as a Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance agent and 15 overall, Dana has seen it all.
From fender benders to hail damage, house fires to tornado outbreaks, she offers every claim her
utmost attention, because to the person filing the claim, it's likely one of the most important things
on the agenda.
So when Angela called Dana with a strange request, Dana did what she always does: she helped.
And she had a good time doing it.
Angela had faced a kitchen disaster. The water connection on the "push-up" dishwasher in her oldschool
Platte City home had sprung a leak, and while she was out running her two pre-teen boys to
various sports practices, the leak unleashed three inches of water into the kitchen. It ruined the
cabinets, soaked the counters, seeped through the floor into the basement. She had been gone less
than an hour, but water doesn't need a lot of time to wreak havoc. The kitchen was a total loss.
She contacted Dana immediately, and after surveying the damage, Dana made sure that Angela was
quickly cut a check so she could get her kitchen up and running and her busy life back on track. But
it's never quite that easy.
"It was overwhelming," Angela says. "If you've ever worked on an old house, you know how every
problem leads to three other problems." Angela didn’t know where to begin. Luckily for her, Dana
was always available to tell her who to call and what to do next.
"She'd never filed a claim before," Dana says. "She needed guidance more than anything."
Angela got the guidance she needed, whenever she needed it. "No matter how busy she is - and I
know she's really busy — Dana always acts like she has all the time in the world for me."
Which is why, when it came time to decide on cosmetic issues, Angela turned to the one person
who'd been there since day 1: Dana. "I'm a do-it-yourself girl, I can do the work," Angela says. "But I
need help with the way things look." She asked Dana about countertops, paint colors, sink styles and
everything else that might make the kitchen visually and practically appealing.
Rather than discuss the various shades of taupe over the phone, Dana made a suggestion. "Let's go
shopping!" So agent and client met for coffee and then hit the local big box hardware store, where
they spent an afternoon selecting the colors and materials that go into making a house a home
again. Dana's input was vital in selecting the countertop and rustic tub-style sink that now makes
Angela's kitchen stand out.
"She didn’t have to do that," Angela says. "But she's always there for whatever I need."
Flash forward a few months. Dana was on vacation with her family when she got a text from Angela.
It was a photo of her completed (and beautiful!) kitchen. And of course Dana responded with delight.
"I don't think of it as 'above and beyond,'" Dana says. "I think of it as making our clients happy. That's
what we do."
